Military Medicine G.I. JOE "Medwick the Medic"

This never-reprinted comedic tale from Ziff-Davis G.I. Joe V2#11 (1952)...
...which isn't related to the action figures or spin-off comics/movies/etc., does contain unrealistic depictions of religion, yoga, and the practice of meditation.
Context is everything!
Keep in mind that this 1952 story, illustrated by George Oleson and probably written by editor Jerry (Superman) Siegel, takes place only a few years after Korea was split in two in 1945, when the North became Communist.
At the time, religion, though disapproved, was not persecuted if it was practiced behind closed doors.
As a result, it's not unreasonable to believe the North Korean troops shown here included numerous Buddhists.
Of course, the portrayal of yoga and meditation is exaggerated and played strictly for laughs.
BTW, though many of the characters in this tale were ongoing featured players, Medwick was a one-shot character.
Other, unnamed, medics were shown in stories before and after him.

Halloween Hospital Horrors EERIE ADVENTURES "From Beyond the Grave"

This week's entry is short and sweet...

...courtesy of artist Bob McCarty and an unknown writer (possibly the comic publisher's editor, Jerry (Superman) Siegel!
At any rate, this never-reprinted short from Ziff-Davis' Eerie Adventures #1 (1951) is in black and white because it was used on the inside back cover of the comic, which most publishers did as one or two-color material to keep costs down!

Halloween Hospital Horrors AMAZING ADVENTURES "Death's Double"

Medical personnel take the Hippocratic Oath very seriously...

...not allowing anything or anyone from keeping them doing their duty for the helpless,  sick, and injured!
This never-reprinted story from Ziff-Davis' Amazing Adventures #4 (1951) feels like an episode of the Twilight Zone, eh?
Artist Paul Parker had a fascinating life after leaving comics in the mid-1950s when the "Seduction of the Innocent" witch-hunt almost destroyed the comics industry.
He became a radio reporter/producer/writer, primarily at the all-news radio station WINS in New York City, where he remained until he retired in the mid-1980s!
