Let's start with the first female doctor to have her own strip...
...and literally jump into her premiere/origin story from DC's Sensation Comics #94 (1949)!
Female doctors had appeared in comic books since the format was created in 1938, but none had their own feature until Dr Pat debuted!
The character was part of the revamping of Sensation Comics, which cover-featured Wonder Woman just like Action Comics featured Superman and Detective Comics featured Batman!
In the case of Sensation, a diverse trio of new female characters became the Amazing Amazon's backup features.
Written by Robert Kanigher, penciled by Carmine Infantino and inked by Frank Giacoia, the hyper-competent, no-nonsense Dr Windsor (who insisted everyone call her "Dr Pat") could do anything a male doctor could do...plus solve crimes!
She ran for 12 issues until Sensation was rebooted into a supernatural mystery title as of #107!
You'll see all her stories here, one a month, until we complete the run!
